Introduction
This is a short and easy walk although the ground can be wet and boggy in places. The path from Rosthwaite towards Watendlath is very obvious and easy to follow. However there is quite a rough and rocky section but this can easily be avoided. There are excellent views to Great Crag, Base Brown, Great Gable & Green Gable, Dale Head, High Spy & Cat Bells and High Tove. This route does not go to Watendlath where there is a cafe but one could easily visit it by continuing on the main path.
Route
(1) From the northern end of Rosthwaite, locate the start of the path signed to Watendlath. Follow this over the bridge then go left, again signed for Watendlath. Follow the path to a gate at a T Junction and go left, again signed for Watendlath. Follow the path up until it suddenly widens with 6 mature trees on the left. A grassy path forks off left just after the trees and this avoids the rough and rocky section of the main path. The grassy path rejoins the main path higher up. Continue to a gate near a small rocky mound (on the left). Go through the gate and take the path going left and following a wall. This leads to a stile which is crossed. Follow the path going right which soon leads to the top which is a small sharp rocky outcrop but there are no difficulties. There is no cairn but this is the summit of Brund Fell, 410 m, the highest point on Grange Fell.
(2) Retrace the outward route.
