Introduction

This is a very easy walk to navigate as there is a good track all the way on this Corbett. In fine weather, there are good views of the Monadliath Munros, Glen Truim, Glen Tromie and beyond. This walk could be used to practice your night navigation on.

Route

(1) Cross to the E side of the river by the obvious footbridge and walk up the side of the Allt Mor on a tarmac road for about 2 km until a vehicle bridge is reached just before Pitmain Lodge (the “lodge” looks like a giant warehouse). Do not cross the bridge and continue along the track on the E side of the river ignoring any tracks going off to the right.

(2) Once clear of the trees (gate), the track starts to gradually diverge away from the river. Stay on the main track, ignoring any left turns, which continues beyond where it is shown on the map. A new estate shelter has been built on the higher section. The track eventually passes about 10 m W of an obvious cairn on Beinn Bhreac before heading W then WNW to a shallow bealach then WNW up to the NE top then SW to the summit trig point of Carn an Fhreiceadain, 878 m.

(3) Follow the track, roughly W which passes to the S of another cairn (see photo). The track then descends to join another track (shown on map) running roughly N – S. Follow this new track S across the SW shoulder then SE, first crossing a tributary then a main river. This track continues on the W side of the river to Pitmain Lodge. Walk past the lodge to the vehicle bridge on the walk in and walk back down the tarmac road to the start.
