Introduction

The conical peak of Ben Tee is a distinctive landmark in these parts but especially when driving E past Loch Garry. There is an obvious path soon after the start and for the final ascent but the middle part of the route seems pathless.

Route

(1) Ascend NW up the initially grassy hillside aiming for the obvious heathery peak. There is more than a hint of a path from the road and it tends to initially follow the wide grassy strips through the heather before heading off right towards an obvious wood. A short distance before this wood, paths lead up the heathery peak and traverse it slightly to its W. Do not attempt to follow paths on either side of the Kilfinnan burn as they will lead you into impenetrable vegetation. A clear path, which can be boggy after rain, then follows the edge of the moor land (high above the burn) before crossing a deer fence by a stile. The path continues, crossing a significant burn. A crag should be noticed on the left ahead. Just after this, there is an obvious dip. About 20 m further, the path swings away into the moor towards the E ridge. The path gradually peters out so continue NW across the moor to gain the E ridge which is easily followed W, over the odd bump, gradually picking up a good path, to the large summit cairn of Ben Tee, 904 m.

(2) Return by the same route. The faint path across the moor can be difficult to find unless its end has been marked by GPS. In clear weather, one can aim for the left one of the two prominent parallel gullies seen across Loch Lochy.
