Introduction

This is a pleasant walk which also takes in the picturesque Corrie Fee. There are excellent views to Glas Maol, Cairn Bannoch and Mount Keen amongst others.

Route

(1) From the car park, take the track passing to the left of the visitor centre and follow signs for Corrie Fee/Green coloured waymark posts. There is a notice at the entrance to Corrie Fee where the old path has been much improved. Follow the path to near the foot of the obvious waterfall after which the path goes left and zig zags up to the upper corrie. At one point, the path crosses a scree gully which looks like it might be the way up but it isn't. The path continues after crossing the gully and soon passes another waterfall in the upper corrie before heading up open grassy slopes. The summit of Mayar is out of sight until quite close but a medium cairn is the summit of Mayar, 928 m.

(2) Go NE then descend E off the small plateau on an obvious path with the occasional old fence post. Further on, there is a fence along the crest. Cross the Kilbo path just before a short descent to a col then follow a path up on the N side of the crest then around to the E before gently rising and reaching a large cairn then continue to a smaller cairn before reaching a large shelter cairn with a trig point inside which is the summit of Mayar, 928 m.

(3) Retrace to the col then descend NE on the very obvious Kilbo path. Lower down this enters the forest for ome distance before crossing a track lower down. Red coloured marker posts lead back to the start, joining the main track close to Glen Doll House.
