Using Callander instead of Loch Lomond road adds 3.3 miles and 5 minutes but it is a better road especially in dark and there is less chance, with more overtaking options, if held up by slower vehicles. There are more options for diversions should the Callander road be closed by an accident whereas there are no options on the Loch Lomond road.
Need to get in and out of Lake District at quiet times as the roads are in and out of Wasdale are very narrow.
